The expansive view of the lake and the Flattops Wilderness Peaks looming high above, made my perch on a small peninsula a delightful and peaceful place. Over several days I commuted 1/2 mile from my campsite starting at dawn. But I had to brave wind and cold, rain and lack of shade to work on this piece, forcing a retreat several times. In the end, it was all worth it, even the mosquitos, as this painting received Best of Show Award at the Meeker Plein Air competition.
